We have been most thankful for the HCA Theater department as it has been an environment of encouragement & inspiration! We have seen impactful friendships/relationships develop between students in US & LS that wouldn’t otherwise have been able to be established! Plus, this program provides students an opportunity to develop God given talents that can become important life skills too! ~Mrs. Mary Miller, HCA parent

The intense action features chases, duels and escapes as the witch is determined to keep Narnia in her possession and to end the reign of Aslan. WINTER PLAY Upper School

You Can’t Take It with You by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman

At first the Sycamores seem mad, but it is not long before we realize that if they are mad, the rest of the world is madder. In contrast to these delightful people are the unhappy Kirbys. The plot shows how Tony, attractive young son of the Kirbys, falls in love with Alice Sycamore and brings his parents to dine at the Sycamore home on the wrong evening. The shock sustained by the Kirbys, who are invited to eat cheap food, shows Alice that marriage with Tony is out of the question. The Sycamores, however, though sympathetic to Alice, find it hard to realize her point of view. Meantime, Tony, who knows the Sycamores are right and his own people wrong, will not give her up, and in the end, Mr. Kirby is converted to the happy madness of the Sycamores.

Our Vision

Our vision is to bring the gift of theater not only to our own students at Harvest Christian Academy, but also to students and families from our church and surrounding community.

For the 2018-2019 Season, we have three productions planned. “Anne of Green Gables” is a classic story performed by students in grades 4-8. Just in time for Christmas, the upper school students perform a family tradition of “It’s a Wonderful Life.” Both of these performances will be held in Harvest Christian Academy’s Chapel. Finally, in spring, students in grades 4-12 perform the large scale musical “Hello Dolly.” Performances will be in our Harvest Bible Chapel Worship Center.

Stage Guild Membership

Harvest Christian Academy has established a bold goal to become the premier student performing arts center in the Elgin area. This includes long-term plans for a modern Performing Arts Center that will house a versatile stage for multiple productions, a state of the art infrastructure to deliver great performances, and a dedicated classroom to train and equip our aspiring young actors and actresses.

We welcome business and community members who have a love for theater and desire to support their local, aspiring actors.  There is a level for all types of supporters from FRIEND to EXECUTIVE MEMBERSHIP.

Review the list of sponsorship levels to choose the best level for your contribution. Your financial support of the HCA Theater Department will have a compelling return on investment.

Into the Woods, Jr by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine

Be careful what you wish for as this cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical.  Into the Woods JR. features all of your favorite characters – Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack (and his beanstalk) and the Witch in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.

The musical centers on a baker and his wife, who wish to have a child; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King’s festival; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of a witch’s curse, the two set off on a journey to break the curse and wind up changed forever.
